Hiya and Welcome!
My name is Ashley Morton.
I’m the proud owner and lead artist of Ashley Marie Artistry.
“How did you get started in the industry?” Is a question I get asked often.
In a galaxy far, far away… I’m kidding!
I spent the first 17 years of my life on the stage performing everything from beautiful ballets to modern weirdness (as my mother would call it) to dancing on numerous 50 yard lines across the DFW. Needless to say, performing this much taught me to love the art of the glam. My mom was also a glam goddess so I come by it honestly. It wasn’t until I immersed myself in the beauty industry that I truly understood my passion for it.
While working in cosmetics, I interviewed for Paul Mitchell The School and I instantly felt at home. As much as I didn't love sitting in a classroom, I knew eventually I would get the opportunity to apply it in real life, well on a mannequin first. After graduating in 2009, I started working behind the chair but my love of makeup was always in the back of my mind. I proceeded to take as many makeup opportunities and classes that came my way. After getting my airbrush certification and a SFX certification I interviewed for Six Flags Fright Fest. I spent the next 3 seasons creating monsters, meeting incredible actors, and spatting lots of fake blood.
Unfortunately, in 2014 my mom fell ill and she passed in 2015. This, of course, rocked my world and in 2016 I decided to buckle down and get serious about my career. Later on that year I was asked to participate in the RAW Showcase: Reveal which featured young artists of all kinds. This show allowed me the creative freedom to realize the directions I wanted to take my business. Also, that year I got to work with a local company that created and sold Jurassic Park memorabilia("Dino DNA"). Little did I know that these side hustles would hone my airbrush skills. I also started AMA’s 31 Days of Halloween on my Instagram and we are now in year 9. The amount of love I have received every year for this series blows my mind and brings me so much joy. In the years to come I would get such incredible opportunities to glam over brides, grooms, humans for special occasions, boudoir baddies, and getting to bring your monster creations to life. I get to make people feel beautiful for a living, best choice I have ever made! I can't wait to meet and work with you for your next event!
